At Surrey Research Park we are passionate about sustainability. We lead by example, empowering our customers to make a difference individually and as part of a collective and we’re always learning and innovating.

From solar powered EV charging, to sustainable buildings and nurturing green spaces, we’re embedding sustainability into our every day. 

EV Charging

3ti, the team behind the UK’s largest solar car parks, has launched Papilio3, a pop-up mini solar car park at Surrey Technology Centre.

The unit provides up to 12 EV charge points, designed to expand EV infrastructure rapidly and provide an effective workplace charging experience for EV drivers.

Food waste & recycling

We’ve installed food waste bins in all our managed buildings and the Hub on the Park café, collecting waste to be digested anaerobically by Severn Trent Green Power. This process turns food waste into renewable electricity for local homes and businesses, and nutrient rich liquid fertilisers.

Sustainability working group

On a community level we’ve set up a Sustainability Working Group at the Park, comprising a cross-section of our customers and University staff. The group is driving knowledge and the uptake of a range of sustainability solutions across our community.

Partnerships

Accelerating the deployment of sustainability solutions requires effective partnerships and knowledge exchange.

We became the first UK Innovation Park to join the Better Buildings Partnership and a member of the UK Green Building Council. We are also focused on making an impact globally and launched a sustainability network with the International Association of Science Parks .
