Ana-Maria joined TRUEinvivo as a placement student from the University of Surrey.
What are you studying at the University of Surrey?
Can you briefly describe your University experience so far?
I am really enjoying the experience and am taking full advantage of the opportunities that are on offer. For example, I am President of MechSoc (Mechanical Engineering Sciences society); belong to Team Surrey Archery; and have also been elected 1st Exec Support Zone PTO in the Students’ Union. In my role, I will be focusing on the wellbeing of students, their personal safety & their safety on campus and improve the help offered to students.
What attracted you to work at TRUEinvivo Limited as part of your placement year?
TRUEinvivo’s area of work is of great interest to me. The company makes a real difference with high precision radiation measurement. TRUEinvivo uses its innovative micro silica bead technology, DOSEmapper for a wide range of applications from aiding the reduction of radiotherapy side effects to measuring radiation levels in a nuclear research or industrial setting.
The business was founded by Surrey Alumni, Dr. Shakar Jafari, after completing her PhD. As a female student in STEM, the idea of working for a company founded by a woman appealed to me greatly.
My position at TRUEinvivo is Engineering Research and Production Assistant. I have already had lots of hands-on experience. With my background in engineering, I will be supporting the manufacturing of our product to be more automated and efficient.
How did you find your placement position at Surrey Research Park and what benefits does it offer?
Surrey Research Park was always on my radar as a perfect place for my placement year as I identified many companies within my field of interest. I contacted all the relevant businesses on the Park and was delighted to be hired by TRUEinvivo.
One of the great things about Surrey Research Park is its location and proximity to the University and Guildford town centre. As a result, I haven’t had to move for my placement year and I can still take part in my extra-curricular hobbies.
Many University of Surrey students are looking for paid placement roles to start by 31st August 2022.
This is a fantastic opportunity to recruit talented young people who will bring skills, enthusiasm and new perspectives to your business.
Advertising for a placement student couldn’t be easier, simply register for a company account on the University of Surrey’s Pathfinder system, upload your advert and students apply to you directly.
