Surrey Spin-Out Morpheus Fluid Secures Investment Through University of Surrey’s S100 Angel Investment Club
SETsquared Surrey member and University of Surrey spin-out, Morpheus Fluid, has secured early-stage investment through the S100 Angel Investment Club, alongside grant funding and growing commercial traction.
Based at Surrey Research Park, Morpheus Fluid is developing advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software that enables organisations to model and simulate the behaviour of fluids such as air, water, oil and gas to support product design and optimisation. Its proprietary meshless simulation technology removes the need for complex mesh generation, significantly reducing setup time and making high-quality fluid modelling more accessible to both expert and non-expert users.
Backed by the University of Surrey’s S100 Angel Investment Club
A key milestone in Morpheus Fluid’s growth has been securing investment through the S100 Angel Investment Club, a University of Surrey not-for-profit investor network that connects high-potential ventures with experienced angel investors. Through the S100 Club, Morpheus Fluid has secured £140.5K in committed investment to date, forming the foundation of its current funding round. The company is now working to complete the round with a further £100K through Henley Business Angels. The S100 Club plays a central role in supporting spin-outs and high-growth companies by:
- Connecting founders with a curated network of angel investors
- Supporting early-stage investment rounds
- Providing a pathway for ventures emerging from university research to access private capital
For Morpheus Fluid, this investment marks an important step in translating deep tech research into a commercial product.
Combining Investment with Public Funding
Alongside angel investment, Morpheus Fluid has secured over £275K in grant funding to accelerate development of its technology:
- Up to £200K from Innovate UK to develop simulation capabilities for drone and aerospace applications, in collaboration with two UK drone companies
- £75K from Surrey County Council to support development of its cloud-based SaaS platform
This blended funding approach allows the company to progress product development while working closely with potential customers and industry partners.
Supporting Design and Innovation Across Industries
Morpheus Fluid’s software is designed to help organisations simulate, test and optimise designs earlier in the development process, reducing time and cost associated with physical testing. Its technology can be applied across a wide range of sectors, including:
- Aerospace and automotive
- Environmental modelling and flood prevention
- Energy and infrastructure
- Marine and Offshore
By simplifying simulation workflows and handling complex geometries and fluid interactions, the platform enables faster iteration and more efficient design processes.
Alongside its technical development, Morpheus Fluid is building commercial traction across sectors including flood risk, insurance, motorsport and aerospace, with pilot projects already underway with SMEs. Initial benchmarking work has also shown promising results, with the company reporting faster and more accurate outcomes in certain flood modelling scenarios compared to industry-standard tools.
Supporting Growth Through the Surrey Innovation Ecosystem
Morpheus Fluid’s progress has also been supported by the wider SETsquared Surrey and Surrey Research Park ecosystem, where the company is based. Through SETsquared Surrey, the team has access to business support, mentoring and a network of peers and partners, alongside opportunities to connect with investors through initiatives such as the S100 Angel Investment Club. Being located at Surrey Research Park also enables closer collaboration with other technology companies and access to a wider innovation community, supporting Morpheus Fluid as it develops and tests its technology across different sectors.
“The S100 Angel Investment Club and SETsquared Surrey have been instrumental in helping us take Morpheus from university research towards a commercial product. The S100 Club connected us with experienced angel investors at exactly the right stage, and the wider support from SETsquared Surrey and Surrey Research Park has helped us build the foundations of a growing business. This investment is an important step towards bringing accurate, accessible fluid simulation to market, helping companies large and small to mitigate the risks of climate change and bring new and more efficient products to market.”
— Justin Read, Co-founder, CEO of Morpheus Fluid Ltd
With investment secured through the S100 Club, grant funding in place, and early commercial engagement underway, Morpheus Fluid is continuing to develop its platform and expand its reach across industries.
