The UKGBC’s mission is to radically improve the sustainability of the built environment by transforming the way it is planned, designed, constructed, maintained, and operated.
The Council tackles a range of issues of the built environment including climate change, resource use, nature and biodiversity, health and wellbeing and socio-economic impact.
As a member of UKGBC, Surrey Research Park will be part of a forum that will be shaping best practice in industry and influencing national policy.
Joining the UKGBC is aligned with the Parks’ ambition to provide a compelling and sustainable environment for companies to grow, and builds on sustainability leadership from the University of Surrey. In January 2020, the University was one of the first academic institutions nationally to set an ambitious carbon reduction target of net zero by 2030, and has recently improved its position in global sustainability rankings.
Grant Bourhill, Chief Executive Officer of Surrey Research Park, comments: “There is an ever-increasing market demand from businesses, the investment community and Government to support sustainability targets and practices. I look forward to working together with UKGBC for a better built environment as we all strive to make rapid, meaningful impact to improve sustainability.”
