Graduates from the University of Surrey are among the most employable in the UK, second only to the University of Oxford in the southeast of England.
In the latest Graduate Outcomes Survey the University was ranked in the Top 10 in the UK for highly skilled employment for UK domiciled, Undergraduate, Full Time graduating students.
More than eight out of 10 University of Surrey graduates have gone on to secure graduate level employment, despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This year’s survey shows that 86.6% of UK first-degree graduates are in graduate level employment or study and 95.1% are in employment – an increase compared to the previous year’s figures for students who graduated in 2019 (before the pandemic).
For international students 88.1% have secured graduate level employment or study and 92.6% are in employment, both figures have increased compared to the previous year’s figures.
The Graduate Outcomes survey, published by the Higher Education Standards Agency, was completed by more than 400,000 graduates from over 400 universities and colleges in the UK, 15 months after graduating.
It provides an insight into the jobs that graduates go on to take after university, and a measure of whether their degree has helped to secure highly skilled employment, which reflects their graduate status.
Frances Gow, Head of Employability and Careers said: “At the University of Surrey, we pride ourselves on creating competitive opportunities for our students, so we could not be more delighted to have secured a Top 10 ranking in the UK. This would not have been possible without our hard-working team, varied and exciting employer partner base, and of course our pool of talented students who leave the university and go on to shape industry futures.”
In March 2022 the University of Surrey won the best university careers and employability service at the National University Employability Awards and in September 2021 the University was awarded the University of the Year for Graduate Employment in the Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide for 2022.
