To round off this year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week we’re spotlighting four pioneering businesses that are all members of Surrey Research Park’s business incubator – SETsquared Surrey.

Securium Ltd, Astron Systems, Accelogress Limited (Reserve & Charge), and SatTraka all took centre stage at the annual SETsquared Partnership’s Investment Futures event, held in London last week.

They were among 20 finalists in this year’s SETsquared Showcase selected from 200 entrants from across the six leading research-led UK universities that make up the partnership: Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey. Since it was founded in 2002, SETsquared has helped businesses secure almost £16bn and created more than 15,500k jobs.

Each year the event showcases some of the very best of the UK’s innovative and deep-tech startups and gives finalists an opportunity to put into practice their investor readiness training by pitching to an invited audience of investors for up to £5m in seed funding.

Recognition of our four SETsquared members as leading investment propositions highlights the vital role Surrey Research Park is playing in nurturing cutting-edge innovation, business growth and the wider UK economy.

Investment Futures: Shaping the investment landscape in 2025

Organised by SETsquared, ranked the UK’s No.1 business incubator by the Financial Times and No.3 in Europe, this year’s Investment Futures event with the addition of dedicated roundtables and critical challenge sessions, helped to shape the future of investment whilst still offering the opportunity to catch the brightest talent emerging from across our ecosystem.

Caroline Fleming, Director of the Surrey Innovation District ecosystem, which includes the Park’s business incubator spoke on a panel about how her S100 Angel Investment Club works closely with the incubation team to ensure investment propositions are aligned to Angel investor needs and how our new IMPACT-IP programmes creates the opportunity for VC fund employees to embed into our TTO teams to achieve the same shared alignment.

The event was finished in style by Professor Lisa Collins, Pro Vice Chancellor, Research and Innovation at The University of Surrey who presented the Community Awards that recognised public votes for innovative and impactful companies from our SETsquared membership.

These achievements highlight the opportunities available for businesses looking to join a thriving innovation ecosystem.
