Seeking space businesses to celebrate World Space Week on Guildford High Street

Working with the Institute of Physics and Guildford Borough Council, the University of Surrey is planning to take over Guildford High Street to celebrate World Space Week on Saturday 5th October.

The annual World Space Week (4-10 October) celebrates the contribution of space science and technology to the betterment of the human condition. This year, the World Space Week will celebrate “The Moon: Gateway to the Stars” in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the first human landing on the Moon and the importance of the moon in future space plans. The international event continues to grow in popularity with over 5,000 events held in 86 countries last year.

Bringing the celebrations to Guildford, a number of interactive, informative and immensely fun activities will be planned along the High Street, including street science busking, coffee-shop comets, star-gazing, story-telling, space lectures and competitions involving local schools.

The University of Surrey wants local businesses with an interest in space, physics and technology to be involved –for further information please contact Lisa Dimbylow, Public Engagement Manager at l.dimbylow@surrey.ac.uk
