Surrey is gearing up to host the South East edition of the national ScaleUp Britain Summit, bringing one of the UK’s leading events for ambitious high-growth companies to the region and reinforcing the county’s role in helping to drive national economic growth.
Hosted by the Surrey Innovation District, at the University of Surrey’s Vet School on April 16, the event is run by the ScaleUp Institute and the London Stock Exchange. It’s designed to help business leaders unlock sustainable growth by discovering new opportunities for funding and support.
During the summit, guests will hear from a strong line up of expert speakers, including representatives from Barclays Bank and NatWest Bank, leaders from businesses that have successfully scaled, and academics from the universities of Surrey, Sussex, Royal Holloway and Reading.
As part of the University of Surrey, the Surrey Innovation District ecosystem, with Surrey Research Park at its heart, is home to dozens of pioneering companies at different stages of growth. Its strong links between research, business and investment make Surrey a fitting host for the ScaleUp Britain Summit.
“We are honoured to host this national event and excited to collaborate with the ScaleUp Institute and London Stock Exchange to support business growth across the whole of the South East,” says Caroline Fleming, Director of Surrey Innovation District, at the University of Surrey.
“Hosting this event is an exciting opportunity to bring together ambitious business leaders from our ecosystem and beyond, and connect them with the world-class expertise, experience and networks to help them take the next step in their growth journey, while supporting our region to play an even bigger role in the UK economy.”
About ScaleUp Britain
According to the ScaleUp Institute, scaling companies contribute £2.19 trillion to the UK economy despite representing less than 1% of the business population, making them a strategic priority for national economic growth.
By celebrating, championing and supporting scaleups across the UK, the organisation works with local communities and businesses to improve access to funding, markets and talent, while convening experts, insight and opportunities to help them grow.
