The Science, Innovation and Research sector has been championed as a bulwark of the national levelling up agenda. The UK Government has recently announced a £25bn funding package for the next three years. The package is the largest of its kind and will split its funding across three subsectors: £16bn will be directed towards Core Science, Research and Innovation, £3bn will go towards Infrastructure and Multidisciplinary Projects, and £2bn towards securing top talent for the sector.
A conservative estimate suggests there are over £10bn of development projects coming forward over the next five years, with government showing its intent with their recent funding package announcement and by publishing a 10-year vision for life sciences.
Grant Bourhill, CEO of Surrey Research Park joins the speaker line up at the Science and Innovation Clusters Development Conference, which aims to unpick the challenges and opportunities facing cluster development by exploring an array of major projects, policy announcements and investment opportunities with over 400 of the sectors senior leaders.
