BioTech Connect to Bring Industry and Research Together at Surrey Innovation District

Guildford, UK – 20 May 2025

On 21st May 2025, the University of Surrey and Surrey Research Park will host BioTech Connect, an event designed to bridge cutting-edge research and biotech industry expertise, accelerating innovation in health and life sciences.

Spearheaded by Surrey Research Park, the event will welcome over 60 attendees from across academia, industry, and the regional innovation ecosystem. The aim is to foster meaningful collaboration, inspire knowledge-sharing, and position Surrey as a leading hub for translational biotech and cancer research.


A Strong Start from Both Sectors

The day will begin with a welcome from Professor Christian Heiss, Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine from the University of Surrey, followed by presentations from several of the University’s top researchers, including:
Dr. Giovanna Nalesso, Research Director, Veterinary School
Andrew Rogoyski, Innovation Director, Surrey Institute for People-Centred AI
Prof. Deborah Dunn-Walters, Associate Dean, Research & Innovation
Dr. David J Allen, Associate Professor in Virology
Dr. Angelica Ronald, Professor of Psychology & Genetics

The event will also feature lightning talks and showcases from several high-impact companies based at Surrey Research Park, including:

A Shared Mission: Collaboration for Impact

BioTech Connect supports the ambitions of the CancerBusters campaign, which aims to unite academic and industry efforts around cancer detection, treatment, health inequality, and both human and animal health research. The event also reflects the bold mission of the Surrey Innovation District to grow its biotech cluster and create new pathways for collaborative research and investment.

Attendees will enjoy a full day of networking, spotlight sessions, and interactive discussions culminating in an open invitation to join the growing biotech and life sciences community in Surrey.
