A breakfast briefing event is being held on Thursday 13th June 2019 to help enhance collaboration between the University of Surrey and the 170 tenant firms on Surrey Research Park in the recently launched café, Hub on the Park in the Surrey Technology Centre.
Professor David Sampson, Vice-Provost, Research and Innovation of the University of Surrey, will be presenting his newly released research and innovation strategy. Part of the strategy showcases how the University of Surrey aims to play a bigger role in the commercial world, as the University of Surrey strives to be the preferred partner for government, business, industry and other universities in creative knowledge, technological solutions, digital transformations and policy innovations.
The new strategy recognises the ever-growing importance of collaboration with business, especially those on the University’s own Surrey Research Park. The event will be an interactive event and David Sampson will be inviting tenant firms to help shape his vision on how to enhance innovation and knowledge transfer between the University and their business.
Attendees include tenant businesses from start-ups to large multinational firms. In addition, local Councillors, local business press, Government bodies, Surrey Chambers of Commerce and funding enterprises and business support services such as SETsquared Surrey and Enterprise M3 are attending.
Exhibitors from the University of Surrey include Business Development, Employability and Careers and Research Themes as well as the Surrey Business School. The Surrey Sports Park will be on hand to discuss corporate wellbeing opportunities. And hospitality providers, Baxter Storey, operators of the Hub on the Park, will be providing a high quality breakfast and on hand to discuss their bespoke hospitality offering.
Malcolm Parry, CEO of Surrey Research Park, comments: “The excellent turnout from our tenant businesses, the University of Surrey and the wider business community is indicative of the appetite to engage and collaborate for mutual benefit. At the Research Park we are always seeking to engage further with our tenant firms, representing the strength of innovation within the Park. We are looking forward to the future of further collaborative work as the initiatives roll out.”
