Mariana is working at Cressive DX as a digital marketing placement student from the University of Surrey. We spoke with her to find out about her background and what she will be doing whilst working at Cressive DX
What are you studying at the University of Surrey
My course gives me the opportunity to explore a wide selection of modules. For instance, the International Fashion Marketing module allowed me to join two of my passions – Fashion and Marketing. I have also developed a keen interest in Finance.
Can you briefly describe your experience so far?
During my time at University, I have been involved in several societies and have learnt a lot of skills that can translate into the working environment. For example, I joined the Portuguese society, acting as the society’s treasurer. Also, I was involved in setting up the University’s Fashion society and I have gained great experience managing events.
Was setting up a new society difficult during the pandemic?
Establishing a new society during covid-19 pandemic was very difficult. Despite the challenges we were still able to run events. My favourite event was the Halloween photoshoot. We had a range of models, organised their outfits/makeup and staged creative photoshoots of them around the University campus.
Tell me about your role at Surrey Research Park tenant, Cressive DX
I am a digital marketing placement student for Cressive DX. Currently I am working on creating a B2B content marketing system, using both inbound marketing and innovative outbound marketing automation. I am also excited to get hands on experience with their amazing award-winning software. The Scorecard software enables CMOs to track and analyse online paid marketing campaigns, capturing and automatically consolidating data from a multiple of online advertising sources.
How did you find your placement position at Surrey Research Park and what benefits does it offer?
It was very difficult looking for a placement during the pandemic. However, many companies at Surrey Research Park like Cressive DX were still offering students placement opportunities.
I think companies based at Surrey Technology Centre, home to a global number #1 business incubation hub and many start-ups, can offer students an incredible opportunity for their work placement. Students can be involved in a more dynamic and hands-on role, working across a range of business functions to really make an impact.
Where do you aspire to work in the future?
My dream job would be to combine Fashion and Marketing, possibly working for an icon fashion brand; there are so many great and unique brands out there.
