University of Surrey hosts quantum technology event

The University of Surrey is hosting a quantum technologies themed event from 11:00am-12:30pm on Tuesday, 26 April 2022 for industrial partners to explore industry-relevant collaborative PhD research projects.

The event is organised by SEPnet (South East Physics Network), which has created a Doctoral Training Network to help your business access highly skilled PhD students.

Funding a PhD to work collaboratively with a university can be a highly effective way for your business to conduct research affordably. Under the scheme, companies will be able to share the cost of PhD studentships with university partners and benefit from government funding.

They will work with academics to shape projects and have regular contact with academics and the PhD student throughout the programme.

The Network is open to all businesses at Surrey Research Park.

If you would like to attend please email: [email protected]

By building collaborative networks with businesses, SEPnet aims to create a critical mass of research to support both regional activity and national science priorities.

The studentships will explore projects across physics and engineering, including:

  • Condensed matter
  • Numerical modelling
  • Simulation and gaming
  • Data science
  • Quantum technologies
  • Medical imaging
  • Photonic materials and sensors.

Visit the SEPnet website to discover more about the scheme.

The University of Surrey is one of nine universities within SEPnet, a consortium which promotes training and employment opportunities in physics across the South East.
