Overwhelming tenant support for Energy and Environmental Working Group

Surrey Research Park’s recent sustainability survey reveals resounding recognition of the importance of energy and environmental targets.

In addition, nearly all respondents want the Park to form a Sustainability Working Group to share knowledge and identify opportunities for collaboration.

Headline results reveal:

  • 95% of companies want the Park to form a Sustainability Working Group, primarily to coordinate, share knowledge and identify opportunities for collaboration
  • Half of companies in SRP either have or are working on energy targets.
  • ~60% of companies in SRP either have or are working on environmental targets.
  • ~80% of companies in SRP say that a sustainability target is either moderately important (25%), very important (45%) or vital (10%) for their business today.
  • Across all companies, staff expectation for a sustainability target is the biggest driver, followed by customer requirements, tenders and investor requirements.
  • ~75% of companies in SRP would be willing to be part of any test-bed to inform Government regulations.
  • ~80% of SRP companies would consider installing EV charging point.
  • ~80% of SRP and STC companies think it important for the Park to be demonstrating energy and environmental sustainability

Results are categorised by businesses in Surrey Technology Centre (STC) or throughout Surrey Research Park (SRP). The survey was completed from companies of all sizes, covering all sectors and representing almost every building.

Given the importance of sustainability, the team at Surrey Research Park anticipated a large demand for a Sustainability Working Group. Nevertheless, the team is delighted in the strong support for such an initiative and has acted quickly to set it up.

The Working Group’s inaugural virtual meeting has been set for 28th June at 1pm.

If you are interested in joining or wish to nominate someone from your organisation, email Natasha Pourzandi [email protected]. The session will last no longer than one hour and further details will be provided to those confirming attendance.

Surrey Research Park is committed to creating a sustainable environment for its businesses and the results, along with ongoing 1-1 discussions with tenants, will help inform Surrey Research Park’s energy and environmental plan due to be ready in Autumn.

We continually welcome your engagement and encourage our tenant to reach out to us directly at [email protected]
