The River Wey slowly meanders around the town and surrounding areas. It creates ample opportunity for walks and recreation. There are numerous pubs overlooking the river, a boating club, locks, bridle paths, picnic sites and wildlife havens.

Stoke Park is Guildford’s largest park. Stoke Park has plenty of open green space and is equipped with children’s playground, skate park, paddling pool, boating pond and mini golf course. It hosts the Surrey County Show – agricultural and general – in May.

Guildford Spectrum Leisure Centre has something on all year round. There is ice skating, ten pin bowling, swimming and a range of sporting activities.

The Surrey Sports Park is a top notch sporting facility. It offers excellent swimming lessons, gym facilities and classes, sport clubs, racket sports, climbing wall and a sports bar and coffee shop. It is an excellent sporting facility for the whole family to enjoy.

A famous cobbled High Street that regularly hosts markets

Guildford’s high street is host to a wide range of well-known shops and restaurants as well as smaller independent shops for all budgets, interests and tastes.

The Friary Centre is Guildford’s biggest shopping centre. There is parking close by and good selection of restaurants and shops. It is a short walk from the train station.

Guildford’s principal commercial theatre is the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre situated alongside the river on Millbrook. It often shows London West End productions and other national tours.

The Electric Theatre on Onslow Street is well known for hosting performances by musicians and amateur drama groups. It also hosts regular film, family and music festivals and has a Riverside Cafe Bar and Terrace.
